Do you remember glow worms? When my daughters were little they loved these toys because you only had to squeeze them to make them glow in the night. For a scared child, this radiant light was comforting.

There are some nights and even some days when I could personally use a glow worm. My mind runs ragged with thoughts of gloom and doom and I am constantly amazed at how our minds can play tricks on us and bring back memories of the day or even days past. Anxiousness ensues.

I think back to scripture when Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tables of the covenant law. It is reported in the Bible that Moses’s face was radiant. When God revealed Himself to Moses, his fact reflected God’s glory.

The children’s hymn “This little light of mine” encourages us to be a beacon of light for others to see. We are to become glow worms for God.

While this may be simplistic, I do believe that shining a light on the darkness of this world and our fellow sinners results in a glow so bright the whole world will shine with the love of God.

Be a beacon for someone…even if you glow only for yourself. Let your light shine, let the truth of Christ glow through you.

The Radiant Face of Moses – Exodus 34:29-35

When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the covenant law in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. When Aaron and all the Israelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them. Afterward all the Israelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands the Lord had given him on Mount Sinai.

When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face. But whenever he entered the Lord’s presence to speak with him, he removed the veil until he came out. And when he came out and told the Israelites what he had been commanded, they saw that his face was radiant. Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with the Lord.
