Then the LORD said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time. You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth.…”

Genesis 7:1-2 (New American Standard)

Love, Love, Love

The Christian life involves many things…it is life changing. Prayer, study, meditation, caring, and more.

But most of all, it means to love. It’s the first and greatest commandment. It is the one I strive the hardest to meet and fall short. But still, I strive.

Matthew 22:37-40 (KJV)

Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

I Want to be Like Jesus

There is beauty in the older hymns that have been sung in church for so many years. You don’t particular song anymore.

When I saw this verse though…this old hymn immediately came to mind…I want to be like Jesus. Here is the opening stanza:

I have one deep, supreme desire,
that I may be like Jesus.
To this I fervently aspire,
that I may be like Jesus.
I want my heart His throne to be,
so that a watching world may see
His likeness shining forth in me.
I want to be like Jesus.

What Me Worry?

It is easy, in these times, to worry about the future. Wars, fires, floods, and politics are just a few of the things that can weigh on the mind. I worry about my children’s futures, about our country…about too much.

It is important to remember that God is STILL on His throne and that He will lead us through tough times. I’m not saying things will be easy. I’m just saying, the One we Worship, will be by with us and some day…He will set the world to rights.

I stand on that promise.

Hymns of Joy

I sell real estate for a living.

Recently, while leaving a closing, the rain started to come down and the buyer looked at me and said “showers of blessings.” I loved it. An old hymn I hadn’t remembered in so long but I still know by heart.

There is sunshine in my soul today…what a glorious delight. These words bring back so much to me and flood my mind with loving memories.

40 years later, I still remember sitting in church with my parents and singing the standards. I’m glad I have that memory. I’m grateful for songs of joyful praise.

I’m grateful.

The Christian Life

I was discussing with a friend about living the Christian life. My friend believes that we should avoid all things and all people who are not of like mind. But I disagree.

How can we witness if we isolate ourselves from others? It is truly the WWJD moment. My father used to say that we live by example and others should see Christ through us. I agree with that thinking.

Dad was on to something!
