Truth

God makes all things new. He makes ALL things new. I have seen lives transformed and changed by the power of Jesus.

“And he who sat upon the throne said, “Behold I make all things new.” Also he said, Write this, for these words are trustworthy and true. And he said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the fountain of the water of life without payment. He who conquers shall have this heritage, and I will be his God and he shall be my son.” Revelation 21-8

Don’t be so touchy!

Everyone is so touchy and I mean that in a sad, ironic and bewildered way.

We live in a social media and communication savvy world where every word, every comment, every thought is digested and repeated and dissected until the pundits can pounce on a person’s thought process.

To be fair, not all comments are created equal. Not all people are smart enough to keep their mouths shut. We are all guilty of saying stupid things. But, and this is important…we have a right to do so.

The church is often stuck in the middle of this quagmire of judgmental commenting and can be quite touchy upon subjects in which they do not agree. Be careful, this is dangerous territory for those who love the Lord.

As for me, I choose to love. I may not agree but I don’t berate, belittle or hate people for their words. To do so is to place yourself in a position from which only God can stand in judgment. I am not going to spew hatred. That is totally contrary to the message of Christ.

I think back to the story of the woman who was an “untouchable” and was an outcast in society. As Jesus moves through the crowds a woman appears that is known as being untouchable and cursed. But this woman takes a leap of faith and makes a desperate grasp for the hem of Jesus garment in order to touch Him. She touches the Messiah and in an instant she is healed. The part of this story that really resonates with me though is that Jesus turns and asks “Who touched my clothes?” “You see the people crowding against you,” his disciples answered, “and yet you can ask, ‘Who touched me?’ ”But Jesus kept looking around to see who had done it. Then the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell at his feet and, trembling with fear, told him the whole truth. He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.” Mark 5:30-34

I believe in my heart that Jesus knew who touched Him but He wanted the crowd to know. He wanted to make a bold and powerful statement. One person deemed totally untouchable was now recognized by the King of Kings and was healed. His touch saved her. It saves people today. What a powerful testimony, What a powerful savior.

As my Pastor once said “No one you lock eyes with is beyond the love and reach of God”. We all need His touch. Be a witness to that truth.

He touched me, Oh He touched me,
And oh the joy that floods my soul!
Something happened and now I know,
He touched me and made me whole.

Once Upon A Time

I like to make up stories with my 5-year old granddaughter. She is quite the storyteller.

But she always starts her stories with “Once upon a time…” which I find charming. As for me, I share stories of dogs, bears, cats and all sorts of heroic characters but without her opening.

But I will use it today.

Once upon a time…there was a baby born in Bethlehem who would change the world. This was not as expected by some but foretold by many. He was such a special baby that people would want to kill him throughout His life.

But this baby grew up to be the savior of the world and even when He died…He died for us and for a happy ending. That’s a story I want to hear every day and I want to share with others.

I’m grateful for Lily Lee’s fictional fables and for the many books I’m lucky to read. But I’m really grateful to tell her about Jesus, the true hero and savior for us all.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Isaiah 7:14

Was Jesus Who He Said He Was?

I am always surprised at how many people want to desperately debunk the truth of Jesus Christ.

There remains people who want to minimize His importance. They want to negate His existence as the Son of God.

The recent “wife of Christ theory” is a current example of how “scholars” take any opportunity to mislead and misinform. The result was an embarrassment to Harvard with the discovery that this “ancient” writing was fake.

It astounds me that people still seek to bring false witness. So many years later…they lack any proof to back up their false claims. Sad indeed.

One thing we should learn is that Jesus cannot be denied unless you so choose. It is pointless to deny Christ thinking it will change the Christian mindset.

Believing in Jesus Christ is beyond academics and beyond those who STILL seek to destroy Him. It isn’t fiction – it is truth. The best kind of truth.

I never doubt.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:
no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6 (KJV)
