Such beautiful words for a wonderful savior.
Such beautiful words for a wonderful savior.
Yes, I know it is not Christmas anymore (technically) and I am well aware it is New Year’s Eve. But this glorious song reminds me that EVERY DAY is Christmas for those who know Jesus. My weary worldly soul rejoices at the fact that I know and love a God that graces me with unconditional and every lasting love. Rejoice…and again, I say…Rejoice.
Blessings to you and yours in 2017.
It is so easy to get discouraged and lose your joy. Just remember, Jesus has overcome this world and we are reborn NEW every morning.
Thank you Jesus.
TheMorning website is dedicated to those woman who have suffered the loss of children. Please check it out if you are so inclined.
What a day of rejoicing that will be.
With age come certain realities that affect how one should view life.
Whatever you might be worrying about today, won’t be remembered tomorrow. Work hard at worrying less and realize that God provides. Walking through the trials of life with confidence is part of the plan. Sadness is inevitable but succumbing to fear, anger, hatred and despair are not.
We are all heading “home” and it is unavoidable. This isn’t maudlin when there is no fear of the future. As believers, our future is certain and reflected in a wonderful old hymn:
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.
Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.
Don’t put value in things, put your heart and soul into people. It pays off. Family and friends are irreplaceable and add a depth of joy that is indescribably wonderful.
Worship is not about the church. Anyone who depends on a pastor, teacher or religious institution will surely be disappointed. A personal relationship with God is meaningful, rewarding and fulfilling. Open your Bible, talk to God, worship with friends…but worship God. There is a difference.
God provides daily blessings – don’t be too busy and miss them.
I promise this to be true.
We once had a priest that would often say “I know, that I know, that I know” when he tried to explain his believe in Jesus Christ. It became somewhat of a Christian mantra for him.
I get it.
I love when people ask me how do I know that Jesus is real. While not easy to explain, I relish the opportunity to share my faith and what it has meant to me. I know that people want solid proof. They want to hear God’s soft whisper in their ear. They want something tangible that they can hold in their hands. But that is not typically the nature of faith. It is unseen and it is felt…it is simply known.
I think back to the disciples and the followers of Christ while He walked this earth. He could take five fish and feed thousands, He could raise the dead, heal the sick, and forgive the unforgivable. Yet, they still doubted.
When you acknowledge Christ’s presence in your life, you will know. It is a sense of peace and a sense of joy unlike anything this world can offer. I have had moments where I felt the real presence of Christ in my life. I have felt that peace that passes all understanding and I know where it came from. It certainly wasn’t from me.
God dwells deep within my soul and I will never be able to describe it in detail, I just try to live a life that acknowledges His presence and hopefully allows my inner light to shine…just a little or a lot.
I know, that I know, that I know. I wish the same for you.
I love a red church door.
In the more traditional religious denominations, a red church door was considered a symbol of entering into worship, into the presence of God, through the blood of Christ, the sacrificial lamb of God.
The church has historically been a place of refuge from the evils of the world both real and perceived. It remains so today.
I urge you to find your red doors. The church is not perfect but it is a place of peace and a refuge from the highs and lows of life. It is a place to share joy, peace and love. It is a place of reflection.
Most of all, through those red doors you will find God waiting to wrap you in love and spread His never-ending grace upon your weary soul.
There is nothing quite like the wind blowing in your hair at a high rate of speed. I drive a convertible. It’s my secret (or not so secret) indulgence.
I was transporting my 5-year old granddaughter one day in my convertible Beetle with the top down. She was shaking her head back and forth as we rode through Orlando and the wind blew wildly about her downy hair. Lily elicited these prophetic words “Mimi, wouldn’t it be great if we could ride like this forever?”
Lily gets it. That feeling of riding free with a sense of flying as the wind moves through your hair and the sun shines warmly upon your face. It’s a heady experience (no pun intended) and it’s joyful too.
God is like that to me. It’s the wind in my hair, the sun in my face and the feeling of lightness. The good news is that we can ride like that forever…as fast as we want.
Creativity inspires me. Specifically, I love to collect various kinds of art. I have old traditional paintings, folk art paintings and sculptures in my home.
One of my favorite sculptures is called “She took the party with her” and I just love this particular piece. It’s a lady with her hair wildly circling her head and she’s wide eyed and happy. She is in full-on celebration mode. To be honest, it is exactly how I feel. Some would say it is exactly how I look.
When I think about what I want on my headstone…I think those words would be perfect. I’m not a sour Christian. I’m a happy, glorious, in-your-face kinda Christian. Life is joy and life with Christ is something to celebrate.
When I crossover into glory, I hope to have my party shoes on with a heart that is ready to rejoice. Can it get any better than that? I think not.
The singer, Pharrell’s, new song is making a mark on the music industry with its cheerful message and snappy tune. It is one of those songs that once you hear it…you keep singing it all day long.
Recently, I had the opportunity to spend time with a prolific Christian author, humorist, speaker, and generous soul to soak up knowledge and insight into the publishing industry. But this was not what made the weekend a success.
What made my weekend so remarkable was Patsy Clairmont’s encouragement. I didn’t realize how much I needed to hear some grace-filled words of inspiration and optimism. It made me happy.
Merriam-Webster dictionary described encouraging as “causing a hopeful feeling.” I soaked up all the great advice Patsy offered and it was a spectacular weekend because she exudes joy. I found hope. My soul soared and my life changed from her kind words. I realized how important this can be in a world full of hurt.
To some extent, all of us have been beaten down which can lead to a defeated mentality. Sharing time with someone who exudes joy and happiness and wants to share is life-changing.
I hope today you will share happiness with someone and give them a joy-filled moment in their day. It matters. People need this. I need this.
Because I’m happy.
